Armenia Gears Up to Host the 2024 World Congress on Information Technology
Armenia is set to become a focal point for global technology leaders as it prepares to host the prestigious World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT) in 2024. This announcement follows the ceremonial handover of the WCIT cup during the 27th World Congress on Innovation & Technology and the 6th International Digital Economy Conference held in Sarawak, Malaysia.The Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises (UATE), under the leadership of Chairman Alexander Yesayan, is at the forefront of bringing this monumental event to Armenia. Yesayan, upon receiving the WCIT cup, expressed enthusiasm about Armenia's growing significance in the global IT landscape. “This is another new victory for Armenia’s IT industry and another opportunity to show the world what makes us a ‘new center,’” Yesayan remarked.WCIT is renowned for its expansive network, encompassing participants from over 46 countries and attracting more than 10,000 attendees in its previous edition. The congress is organized by the World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA), a consortium that includes 80 countries. WITSA is committed to leveraging digital technologies and the digital economy to foster global economic growth and social prosperity.With the theme "Science as a way to fulfill the promise of the digital age," WCIT 2024 aims to highlight Armenia's commitment to utilizing scientific advances to maximize the potential of the digital era. The event is expected to be bigger and more impactful than previous editions, setting a new standard for innovation and collaboration in the tech world.The partnership between UATE and WITSA continues to strengthen following the successful hosting of WCIT 2019 by Armenia, showcasing the country’s capability to facilitate a global dialogue on technological advancement and innovation.
